Liz Baxter, MPH – Liz is currently Executive Director of We Can Do Better, founded in late 2005 as the Archimedes Movement, an organization that believes in the power of leverage – that small groups of people can have great impact, and that even a small state like Oregon can influence the national debate on health and health care. Liz has spent her career building bridges between complex policy initiatives and the public’s ability to understand these issues. Prior to this work, Liz spent:
- Five years with the state of Oregon, overseeing a HRSA state planning grant, identifying strategies to expand coverage to uninsured Oregonians;
- Twelve years with Legacy Health System, managing grant funded research in managing high-risk patients through chronic care initiatives and care management strategies, with an emphasis on connecting traditional medical care and community-based, supportive services.
In November of this year, Liz will complete a transition to a new role as Executive Director of the Oregon Public Health Institute.
Liz has her undergraduate degree in social work, two years of graduate study in gerontology and completed her Masters in Public Health at Portland State University. She currently chairs the board for Cover Oregon, Oregon’s Health Insurance Exchange
